Meet Jordie, Animal Ambassador

Jordie is our resident greeter and one of the Ranch's resident noisemakers.  If you ever hear a random "hello" or "come here", it is mostly likely Jordie chattering away.  Jordie, an African Grey Parrot came to the Rescue Ranch in March 2017 at the age of 24.  He just turned 30 in May of 2023.  He arrived from another rescue who was having difficulty placing him.  They knew that he is great with people, so they reached out to see if we could be his forever home.  Of course, we were happy to say YES! 

Being the young lad that he is (did you know that African Grey Parrots can live to be 60-75 years in age?), Jordie is full of spunk and keeps everyone laughing.  He often spends his days in the front lobby helping greet guests as they come through the door with a hearty "HELLO!"  He is even learning to whistle the theme song to the Andy Griffith show! 

Jordie loves to hang upside down, swing on his toys and mischievously tosses his food around on occasion.  Children and adults adore him and love how easily he will step up on their arm for a sunflower seed (one of his favorite treats).  If you are ever around when it is time to close up for the day, Jordie will melt your heart as he says "I love you" before going to bed for the night.    

You can visit with Jordie and our other Animal Ambassadors by booking a group or private tour.  Tours last approximately 90 minutes and include access to the playground and nature trails for the day.
